A Couple of Great Weekends.
I've had visitors! Our son William came to visit from San Diego the weekend of June 14th. We just had family dinners and were hanging out together. It was really nice to spend time together as a family. All the kids under one roof. They seem to have their own language between each other. It's fun to watch.
That Sunday morning I met up with knitting friends for the Fools Flotilla. It's so much fun to watch all of these costumed people float down the river and spill out into Lake Monona. We knitted on the shore while we waited, then watched the flotilla go down the river - then theoretically talked about a "knitters flotilla" - wouldn't that be fun.
Last weekend my Mom, Sister and Brother in Law came to visit from Ohio. We went to New Glarus to tour and buy beer. We went to a supper club. Went to a farmers market and to Woodman's to explore the world of Wisconsin Cheese - Woodman's has a great selection. Paul made a fish fry with Walleye my sister brought. All in all- it was a fun, weekend! It was so nice to spend time with family. I miss them.

Some Not So Great News.
I went in for a CT scan - and developed a head to toe case of hives from the contrast dye. It itches and is prickly and I'd say is worse than the first rash I had from the chemo drug. After a lot of steroid cream, oral steroids and Benadryl it's finally easing up a bit.
Some Really Great News
I had both a CT scan and a brain MRI this past week. The great news is that the tumors are shrinking! The main tumor in my right lung shrank from almost 5 cm to about 2 cm in diameter. The several metastatic brain tumors are only apparent as scar tissue. The lymph nodes have all shrunken considerably.
We are really relieved that for now things are moving in a good direction. I will continue to have scans every quarter to check how things progress and will continue chemotherapy for the foreseeable future.
Another good thing - I have been taking the Tegresso pill daily and having 2 chemotherapy drugs (along with a concoction of other anti-nausea drugs) infused every three weeks. This past week was my last infusion of one of them. The Carboplatin is an older chemotherapy drug that they can't keep you on for a long time - without the potential for more severe side effects. I'm hoping that the removal of that drug will reduce some of my side effects I've been having.
Thanks again for all the well wishes and support! I really appreciate it and love you all!
Take Care!
